Hurricane Ida Relief Drive Hosted by Valobra Master Jewelers

UPDATE: Donation Drive has been extended and we are now excepting donated items though Wednesday, Sept 15th

(September 2, 2021 – Houston, TX) – Valobra Master Jewelers is honored to partner with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, the Harris County Precinct 1 and the St. Anne Catholic Community for a Hurricane Ida Relief Drive starting Thursday, September 2 through Wednesday, September 8. Donations of supplies and non-perishable food will provide much-needed support to those impacted by the disastrous hurricane. All donations will be transported directly to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office and distributed by sheriff’s deputies to residents impacted by Hurricane Ida.

Hurricane Ida made landfall in Louisiana on August 29, 2021, the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, as a Category 4 storm with winds over 150 mph, making it one of the strongest hurricanes to impact the region. Franco Valobra, owner of Valobra Master Jewelers and decades long resident of the city of New Orleans, was able to evacuate with his family after closing and boarding up his Valobra Jewelry store on Royal St. in the French Quarter.  While safe in Houston with his family, Mr. Valobra partnered with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit of which he is a Founding Member, to aid the victims of this traumatic storm and its aftereffects.

Due to the damage sustained by the storm, New Orleans and its surrounding areas could be without power until November, have gasoline shortages, have lost homes, belongings, and businesses, school closures and desperately need help in any way.

We will accept first necessity items at Valobra Master Jewelers located at 2150 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX 77098 on Thursday, Sept 2 – Saturday, Sept 4 from 10am – 6pm and Tuesday, Sept 7 – Wednesday, Sept 8 from 10am – 6pm. Once filled, a truck will then transport the goods directly to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office headquarters in downtown New Orleans.
